Newcastle transfer target Clement Grenier has played down reports he has missed training with Lyon in a bid to force through a move.
The France international has been heavily linked with a move to St James' Park this summer despite his current club insisting they have no intention of letting him leave.
The 23-year-old is said to be keen on a switch to Tyneside and reports in France this week claim he sat out a training session in protest at not being allowed to move.
Grenier has now played down talk he is unhappy with Lyon and says his absence from training was due to him taking part in an individual session elsewhere.
"I have read a lot of things about myself recently," he wrote on his personal website. "Just to be clear, Lyon's medical and technical staff have set me a specific programme so I can be back at 100 per cent.
"That includes a period spent training indoors. That is why I have not been present at some of the training sessions.
"I have no problem with the club and have never missed a training session intentionally.
"There is no controversy and my intention is to be back on the pitch and competing as soon as possible."
