Newcastle are being linked with a move for Joleon Lescott after reports claimed he will be allowed to leave Manchester City.
The Magpies are on the look out for a new central defender as Fabricio Coloccini appears to be heading for the exit door in the summer and Lescott has emerged as a potential target.
Reports have claimed that City are ready to cash in on the 31-year-old as they look to freshen up the defence in the summer and will make him available for a fee in the region of £4million.
If that is the case there will be no shortage of takers and as well as Newcastle, it has been suggested that Aston Villa are keen, while Everton could also look to re-sign him.
Newcastle are reported to be frontrunners, but it is thought that Magpies owner Mike Ashley will be reluctant to splash out on a player the wrong side of 30.
