Newcastle are weighing up a move for Polish midfielder Ludovic Obraniak, who is considering his future at Bordeaux.
The 28-year-old caught the eye of Newcastle scouts as they watched recent new signing Yoan Gouffran in action and a move could be on the cards in the summer.
Obraniak, who was born in France, is unhappy with Bordeaux for cashing in on the likes of Gouffran without replacing them, and is now said to be considering his own future.
Derek LLambias has confirmed the club will return to France to make more signings in the close season and it seems as though Obraniak could be on Alan Pardew's list of targets.
"When you lose key players without replacing them with those at the same level, it is difficult to achieve goals," he revealed. "It is surprising and puzzling. I think that if you are in the top five and you lose a player then you should look to replace him."
"My future? It could lead to thoughts. The message is clear that the club want to reduce the wage bill, so we have to make choices."
