Newcastle boss Alan Pardew is monitoring PSV Eindhoven striker Ola Toivonen's contract situation.
The Magpies boss is eager to add to his ranks in the transfer window after what was a poor summer in terms of transfer activity. Pardew only managed to add Loic Remy to his squad, and Papiss Cisse has failed to deliver so far this campaign.
Toivonen has developed into one of the Eredivisie's top players over the last few seasons, and the Swede is out of contract at the end of the season. He is currently delaying signing a new deal and PSV may be forced to sell on the cheap in the January window.
Reports suggest that Newcastle would only have to pay around £2.5million for his services, but Norwich and Fulham are also interested.
