Shola Ameobi, Danny Simpson and Jonas Gutierrez have all been passed fit for Newcastle's clash with Cardiff this evening.

Simpson, who has now signed on a permanent basis from Manchester United, has been struggling with an ankle injury but has returned to training and comes back into contention.

So does Ameobi who has been struggling with an ankle injury for the last two weeks, while Gutierrez has recovered from a slight muscle strain and could start.

"We still have a couple of knocks and bruises here and there, but the good news is that Danny, Shola and Jonas are all fit," he told the club's website.

"It's been a busy period and it will continue to be like that between now and the end of the season. So I'm delighted to have the three lads back and it gives me more options with regards my starting eleven."
