Frank Lampard is set to follow skipper John Terry and pledge his future to Chelsea ahead of the start of the new season.

Lampard has been locked in talks with the club about a new deal for well over a year without reaching any agreement and there have been fears he could jump ship for Barcelona.

The England international wants his £68,000 a week wages boosted to around £121,000 a week like Michael Ballack and Andriy Shevchenko and in the meantime has been attracting plenty of interest with Real Madrid and Juventus also known to be keen.

Lampard has two years left to run on his current deal and there was even talk that he would buy out of the rest of his contract and free up a move elsewhere.

However, it would appear that the 29-year-old midfielder is now on the verge of agreeing terms to stay at Stamford Bridge for what should be the rest of his career.
