Roy O'Donovan is set to return to the Northampton squad this weekend, although caretaker manager Andy King has concerns over the striker's fitness.
O'Donovan has been in Dubai for the past week, undergoing a medical ahead of a proposed transfer to Singapore-based club Brunei DPMM FC, but the player confirmed he has pulled out of the move.
He has now returned to Sixfields, but King is reluctant to throw him straight back into the action.
"I base things on present time and he hasn't got the goals he got last year," King, for whom the game at Plainmoor will be his fifth in temporary charge, told the Northampton Chronicle.
"Of course we were a totally different team last year too.
"Roy O'Donovan is an addition because he is a top player.
"When I saw him at Hartlepool he was sensational and he was going to come to Colchester, but then Aidy nicked him and took him to Coventry.
"That Roy O'Donovan was superb. He wasn't 100 per cent fit when he went to Dubai, he's had a bad ankle and we need to know where we stand with that."
