Middlesbrough are keen to sign out-of-favour Norwich City duo Daniel Ayala and Luciano Becchio on loan this week.
Boro boss Tony Mowbray expressed an interest in striker Becchio and centre-back Ayala over the summer but was unable to lure either of them to the Riverside Stadium.
However, both remain on the fringes of the Norwich first-team and boss Chris Hughton could be receptive to one or both players moving on now that the loan window has opened for business.
Becchio only signed from Leeds in January but is well down the pecking order following the signings of Ricky van Wolfswinkel, Gary Hooper and Johan Elmander to bolster the forward line.
Ayala, meanwhile, has not appeared for the Norwich first team since February 2012 and spent last season on loan at Nottingham Forest.
