Canaries refuse option on striker

Johan Elmander is set to return to France to join Bastia after managing only one goal in 29 appearances for Norwich last season.

The Swedish international striker failed to live up to expectations in Norfolk but will now resume his career in France under new Bastia boss Claude Makelele.

Norwich have told Galatasaray they do not want to take up their option of a permanent signature and the 33-year-old has been told he is free to leave by his parent club.

Elmander's most prolific seasons were in France where he starred with Toulouse from 2006 to 2008 - playing 38 games and scoring 22 goals.
