Nottingham Forest have reportedly warned Norwich that they will have to pay £2.5million if they want to sign full-back Chris Gunter.

The 22-year-old Wales international has been heavily linked with a move to Carrow Road, while several other Premier League sides have expressed an interest in the former Cardiff City man, who joined Forest from Tottenham for £1.75million in 2009.

Reports claim Norwich boss Paul Lambert has already had two bids up to £1.5million snubbed by Forest, who are currently occupying the third relegation place in the Championship.

However, if City or any other interested party were to increase that offer by £1million then a deal could be done in the January transfer window.

Lambert confirmed earlier in the week that he is looking to bolster his side with several new faces in the New Year, but also warned that he would not pay over the odds.

Therefore, it remains to be seen if he would see Gunter as value for money if he does step up his interest in signing the player.
