Derby County are interested in Norwich City striker James Vaughan - who scored his 13th of the season for Huddersfield on Saturday.
Rams boss Nigel Clough is said to want Vaughan in a £750,000 deal as he plans to revamp his strikeforce at Pride Park for next season.
Vaughan, 24, has impressed during his loan spell at Huddersfield and could attract rival bids.
Derby's interest in Vaughan could be bad news for on-loan Canaries striker Chris Martin, who has scored two goals in 12 appearances at the Championship club since arriving in January.
Martin, also 24, is expected to leave Carrow Road when his contract expires at the end of the season.
Clough is believed to be weighing up a full-time move for the striker but expects to face competition from other clubs.
