Norwich striker Grant Holt watched City's potential FA Youth Cup quarter-final opponents this week in an apparent scouting role.

The 31-year-old Canaries captain made the trip to Barnet on Monday night to see Everton book their place in the last eight with a 4-2 win over Arsenal.

Neil Adams' young Canaries face Birmingham City in the fifth round at Carrow Road next Tuesday with the winners then to face an away tie against the Toffees in the quarter-finals.

It means Adams could pit his wits against his former Goodison team-mate, Kevin Sheedy, who coaches Everton's youth team.

Holt's presence at the Arsenal game suggests he is working informally to help out the youth team as they bid for glory in a competition that they famously won under Dave Stringer in 1983.
