Norwich City midfielder Jonny Howson insists that he is more than prepared to fight for his place in the starting line-up.
The 24-year-old joined the Norfolk club in January of the 2011/12 season from Leeds United after coming through the youth academy and making 185 appearances for the first team.
Howson has struggled to hold down a regular spot when Alex Tettey has been fit but has made a good impression over the last four games and is hopeful he can stay in contention for Saturday's game with Wigan.
The midfielder believes that competition for places under Chris Hughton has helped to push the club in the right direction, currently sitting in 12th, seven points from the relegation zone.
"Now I've had a run of games, hopefully I've done enough to stay in the side," said Howson
"Alex is back in training now, (David) Fox is there, Bradley Johnson has been good all season and Wes is there too. You can never switch off as a player.
"For me personally, I would obviously have liked to have played a few more games, but it's not about individuals; it's about the team."
