Norwich defender Simon Lappin has joined Championship promotion hopefuls Cardiff City on loan until January.

Lappin, who can operate as a full-back or in midfield, has managed just one appearance for the Canaries this season, in a Capital One Cup tie with Scunthorpe in August.

Boss Chris Hughton has allowed the 29-year-old to depart Carrow Road on loan and Lappin will remain with Cardiff until January 1.

Norwich have, however, inserted a clause in the deal that will allow them to recall Lappin after 28 days of his loan stay in Wales as a precautionary measure should any regular first-team players become injured.
