Anthony Pilkington may face a spell on the sidelines after picking up a hamstring injury during Norwich's 0-0 draw at QPR on Saturday.
The 24-year-old attacking midfielder lasted just 24 minutes of the Premier League stalemate at Loftus Road and was subsequently forced to pull out of the Republic of Ireland squad for Wednesday's international friendly with Poland at the Aviva Stadium.
It is a huge blow for Pilkington because he was set to be handed his debut by coach Giovanni Trapattoni, but the former Huddersfield man is aiming to get fit and make sure he gets another chance in the future.
"Gutted I can't meet up with the @FAIreland squad tomorrow because of my Hamstring strain! Hopefully get back fit and get in the next squad," Pilkington tweeted.
In the meantime, Canaries boss Chris Hughton will hope Pilkington's hamstring injury is not serious as he plans his team selection for their next Premier League clash which is against Fulham at Carrow Road on Saturday.
