Roma star 'rejects' Canaries switch

Last Updated: Fri, 17 Jan 2014 11:31

Roma defender Nicolas Burdisso is believed to have rejected a move to Norwich City because he wants to join a more competitive team.

The 32-year-old Argentine international is available and has confirmed that he will leave Roma during the January transfer window after making just five Serie A appearances for Rudi Garcia's side so far this season.

Burdisso is looking for a new club to push forward his claims for a spot in Argentina's World Cup squad but, according to Sky Sport Italia, didn't think that Carrow Road would be the right move.

Greek champions Olympiacos and Bayer Leverkusen, who are second in the Bundesliga, are rumoured to be interested in signing the former Inter Milan centre-back.

Burdisso has not played for Argentina since he ruptured knee ligaments in a 2-1 World Cup qualifying win away to Colombia in November 2011, leaving him sidelined for six months.
