Norwich's hopes of keeping goalkeeper John Ruddy have been boosted after Chelsea opted to sign Mark Schwarzer on a free transfer.
The Canaries had slapped a £10million price-tag on the head of their England international shot-stopper having rebuffed two separate bids from Chelsea for his signature this summer.
However, returning Blues boss Jose Mourinho has opted to switch his attentions elsewhere and swooped to sign 40-year-old Australian, Schwarzer, who left Fulham at the end of last season after five years at Craven Cottage, on a one-year contract at Stamford Bridge.
It means Ruddy is now set to stay at Carrow Road where he will look to start the season as number one despite missing a three-month chunk of last term because of a thigh injury.
