Kei Kamara has revealed that going on trial at Stoke City led to his loan move to Norwich City from Sporting Kansas City.

The 28-year-old Sierra Leone international arrived in England last month to try out at City's Premier League rivals but ended up joining the Canaries on a temporary deal until May with the view to a permanent contract.

Kamara had hoped to impress Tony Pulis in order to earn a short-term loan deal during the Major League Soccer break, between January and March.

But his agent came to the rescue with news of another opportunity after the Potteries club's interest fell through.

"My agent Shaun Higgins has done a great job - he's always trying to look out for me and obviously going out to Stoke (for) training (was the start of it)," he told ExtraTime Radio.

"That was where we were looking to see if I could go out on loan in the offseason and play there and it didn't end up working out so we talked. I just said I was going into this season to play well and hopefully something will come up in the summer time and maybe I could try to do something.

"He said, 'ok, but I have a lot of things for you. Would you be interested?' and he told me a bunch of countries. I said listen, don't come to me until anything is concrete so I can focus right now and go play.

"He then called me and told me about the Norwich situation and I said, hey, you call the coach Peter (Vermes), you talk to him and if he says yes to it, then I'd encourage it but at the same time it has to be concrete. I don't want to put my focus into anything that's not really concrete.

"So they talked and two or three days later thing started getting really serious, it was all over the web and that's when I knew that this could be a big opportunity for me to play English Premier League and I wasn't willing to overlook it."
