Nottingham Forest boss Billy Davies has described Newcastle's bid for James Perch as 'derisory' and says it was immediately rejected.

Newcastle are keen on the defender, who has only just returned to action following a lengthy injury lay-off, but the offer made was nowhere near what Forest would be looking for if they were to even consider selling.

Davies is also unhappy with the way news of the bid has made its way into the press and insists the player is going nowhere.

"We must be doing something right if other teams in our division want our players," Davies told the club's official website. "But we are looking to build a squad at the City Ground rather than dismantle one and James is not leaving.

"Newcastle's offer for someone we value so highly as a player and an individual was derisory and I'm disappointed it made it into the public domain. That's not our way of doing business."
