Nottingham Forest have entered the race to sign a new left-back after Nickey Shorey was recalled from his loan spell by Aston Villa.

Shorey had been on loan at the City Ground for the past two months and played a big part in Forest climbing up to second in the Championship.

An injury to Villa's Stephen Warnock has now cut short Shorey's loan spell and the former England international was on the bench for Villa's game against Arsenal on Wednesday.

Forest manager Billy Davies is expected to either go back in for Shorey once Warnock has recovered or search for a replacement to help their bid for promotion.
