Nottingham Forest have allowed midfielder Matt Thornhill to go out on loan to League Two side Cheltenham for a month.

Robins manager Mark Yates has also revealed that the arrangement can be extended if all parties can agree on a deal.

Thornhill spent the first half of the season on loan at League One Brighton where he was in and out of the side, making nine appearances in total.

This move will give the attack-minded player another a chance to improve his match sharpness and he will go straight into their squad to face league leaders Rochdale on Saturday.

Yates is thrilled to have him on board as he looks to make his mark at Cheltenham.

He said: "I'd like to thank Nottingham Forest for letting Matt come to us.

"He is a talented young player who we have known for a number of years. He will certainly add something different to the squad and can contribute to the team in a big way."
