Oldham have confirmed that they will look to tie up the permanent signing of loan defender Sean Gregan from Leeds United next week.

The 32-year-old has been a mainstay in Latics boss John Sheridan's first team since arriving from Leeds in early November and the club are desperate to keep him at Boundary Park as they stay in the hunt for automatic promotion to the Championship this season.

A Latics spokesman said: "Several other clubs, including some from the Championship, are also after him, but we've made him an offer and are waiting to hear from him.

"He likes the set-up here and we are expecting a decision some time next week."
