Doncaster striker Darren Byfield is being linked with a loan switch to Oldham after they lost Brett Ormerod to injury.

Ormerod has returned to Preston because of a toe injury which leaves Latics short of options up front and Byfield is a reported target.

It's claimed the move could become permanent if Byfield impresses Boundary Park boss John Sheridan.

Byfield has failed to cement a first-team place at Rovers since a summer switch from Bristol City.
