Pendleton pedals to podium

Other SportsVictoria Pendleton has added her name to the list of Great British gold medalists in Beijing, with victory in cycling's sprint final.

The 27-year-old dominated the event throughout and deservedly took top spot after beating Australia's Anna Meares 2-0 in the best-of-three race final. China's Guo Shuang took bronze.

The Bedfordshire-born Pendelton is yet another success story from the impressive Team GB side and she was delighted to be part of the camp.

Pendleton told the BBC: "It doesn't feel real yet. It hasn't sunk in yet.

After the success of the team is it too much to ask if I don't get a medal? I'm so glad I'm part of it now."

The three-times world sprint champion also paid tribute to her support team, adding: "I'm lucky to have so many good have people around me."
