Team GB rule the waves again

Other SportsGreat Britain have claimed another sailing gold in Beijing, with Paul Goodison winning the Laser class on Tuesday.

The 30-year-old from Rotherham picked up Team GB's 13th gold medal of the Games and made up for his personal disappointment of four years ago, when he finished fourth in Athens.

Goodison led going into the medal race and held on to top spot by finishing ahead of his nearest rival, Sweden's Rasmus Myrgren. Slovenia's Vasilij Zbogar took silver with Italy's Diego Romero winning the bronze.

Speaking about his success, Goodison admitted: "It just feels unbelievable. It's going to take a while to sink in but wow.

"I think that if the winds here had been a little bit stronger and the racing had been normal then I would have just sailed my race because I would have been more confident that I wasn't going to lose.

"But because the wind was so light and so random, the only way to guarantee winning was to do what I did."
