Wiggins works wonders for GB

Other SportsBradley Wiggins paid tribute to his team-mates after Great Britain landed a team pursuit Olympic gold with victory over Denmark.

The 28-year-old, who also won the individual pursuit, helped turn in a thrilling 4000m performance alongside Paul Manning, Geraint Thomas and Ed Clancy to set a new world record of three minutes, 53.314 seconds.

The Londoner could yet win his third gold in Beijing when he combines with Tour de France hero Mark Cavendish for the Madison, but was delighted to see the team prevail.

He told the BBC: "It's phenomenal. Yesterday I was pretty down after the first couple of rounds, I was mainly disappointed because I didn't want to let these guys down. I was on the back foot a bit because it was a tough day the day before.

"But these guys sacrificed a lot. It's just fantastic to be part of this team, we've come a long way in four years. And to put a time like that on the board is phenomenal really.

"I'm just delighted, I really am."
