Jim Gannon is vowing to get Peterborough playing 'positive football' in their relegation battle after replacing Mark Cooper as manager.
The 41-year-old was installed as Posh's third manager of the campaign after Cooper was axed on Monday after just one win in 13 games at the helm since replacing Darren Ferguson in mid-November. And Gannon, who has been out of work since leaving Motherwell at the end of December, is now confident he can keep the club in the Championship, despite them being 11 points from safety.
Gannon, who enjoyed a four-year spell in charge of Stocjkport County, told the Posh website: "It is a fantastic opportunity and I am excited, not just because of the opportunity, but the challenge of trying to bring some good football to Peterborough.
"My philosophy is good passing football, it is how I believe the game should be played and it brings out the best in players. It inspires them and motivates them to play football in the right manner.
"At Stockport when I went there we were seven points adrift and we stayed up so it can be done. Statistically, it looks a difficult task, but the main aim is to get three points on Saturday, try and make a difference and bring back some positive football.
"I am sure the fans have been dispirited by some of the results of late, I think what everyone wants to see is players playing their football in the right way and showing their true colours.
"Once they do that, I am sure the fans will enjoy their football and it can be a more enjoyable end to the season. I have spoken to one or two of the players already and they know what I want to try and achieve.
"The main objective is to get three points on Saturday against Queens Park Rangers. The Championship is a tough league to pick up a string of victories, but we want to play better football and hopefully the results will follow and let's see where it takes us."
