Peterborough boss Jim Gannon has praised Aaron McLean after the striker scored the winner against QPR on his return to the side.
McLean only played once under former manager Mark Cooper and was placed on the transfer list at London Road earlier in the season
However, after failing to agree a move away from the club in the January transfer window, McLean was handed a lifeline by new boss Jim Gannon and repaid the manager's faith by scoring the winner on Saturday.
Despite the victory, Posh remain nine-points adrift at the foot of the Championship but Gannon believes McLean could be the man to fire his side to safety.
He told the club's website: "Aaron justified his inclusion, not just with the goal but his overall enthusiasm. I came into the club this week and gave everyone a clean slate and he took his chance well.
"It was an easy decision for me to bring him back into the team. He has quality, he is a goalscorer and he has won us the game."
