Peterborough goalkeeper Joe Lewis could be set to join QPR in the January transfer window following a trial at the Premier League club.
Lewis, who has only recently returned from a serious knee injury he suffered during the npower League One play-off semi-final against MK Dons in May, will be out of contract at the end of the season and eligible to leave London Road on a free transfer.
Posh director of football Barry Fry is considering selling Lewis in the new year to make some profit and he has confirmed that the former England Under-21 international played in a reserve-team friendly for QPR last week.
"QPR manager Neil Warnock asked if they could take a look at Joe at close quarters and our manager and chairman agreed. He was there last week and will be going back there this week," Fry told the Evening Telegraph. "That is as far as it has gone. No offers have been made, but Joe is out of contract at the end of the season when we face losing him for nothing."
Lewis made a surprise first appearance of the season in Peterborough's dramatic 4-3 home defeat to Barnsley nine days ago and kept his place in the team as Posh drew 1-1 at Leicester on Saturday.
At the beginning of December, the 24-year-old said his agent was in talks with Peterborough regarding a possible contract extension.
