Midfielder Lee Frecklington is keeping his fingers crossed manager Jim Gannon accepts a new long-term contract with the Peterborough.

The former Motherwell and Stockport boss is currently considering an offer from the Championship strugglers after joining them initially on a short-term basis following the sacking of Mark Cooper.

Posh owner Darragh MacAnthony will give Gannon as long as possible to make up his mind but it is understood the terms are to Gannon's liking although he is still unsure about relocating his family to the area.

Frecklington, 24, told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "I think his record since he has been here has proved how much the lads want him to stay here.

"If he does stay it can only be beneficial for all the players and the club in general.

"People can see from our recent performances that our pride has been restored and hopefully we can continue that with Jim for the long term."
