Striker Craig Mackail-Smith is set to boost Peterborough by returning from illness for Saturday's trip to face Crystal Palace.

The hitman was ruled out of the 1-0 defeat against Preston at London Road in midweek, but has recovered enough to face the Eagles at Selhurst Park.

Winger Chris Whelpdale and central midfielder Josh Simpson both picked up knocks against North End and are rated doubtful for the game which could pave the way clear for Paul Coutts and Tommy Rowe to return.

Defender Gabriel Zakuani is still out with a groin injury and Wales international Craig Morgan will sit out the third and final game of his suspension.

The Posh are aiming for a first point of 2010 against a Palace side which has been thrown into a relegation battle after having 10 points deducted for going into administration.
