Gabby Zakuani is a major doubt for Peterborough ahead of the visit of Bristol City.
Zakuani has suffered a recurrence of the troublesome toe injury that plagued him during the first half of the season and the defender looks set to miss out on Saturday.
"Gabby injured his toe again in training before the Cardiff game but the scans showed there isn't a fracture. We will know more after he has seen a specialist," said Posh boss Darren Ferguson. "It is obviously very painful though and the problem is he has had so many painkilling injections that he is becoming immune to them.
"We will have to wait and see what the specialist makes of the injury. He may say we can patch him up again and get him out there, but personally I think that is unlikely."
Shaun Brisley will not be asked to make an immediate debut after completing his switch from Macclesfield this week, so either Craig Alcock or on-loan defender Matthew Briggs will deputise for Zakuani. Both players had spells at centre-half against Cardiff on Tuesday night after Zakuani was forced off injured.
Midfielder Tommy Rowe is nursing a knock sustained in the Welsh capital and is another injury concern for Ferguson, who could recall Paul Jones in goal after a third high-profile mistake in the last four matches by Joe Lewis against the Bluebirds.
