Plymouth have signed former Crewe defender Kelvin Mellor.

The 23-year-old came through the ranks at Gresty Road and made 92 appearances across five years before penning a two-year deal at Home Park following his release by the League One side earlier this summer.

The right-back, who played 32 times for Crewe last season, becomes John Sheridan's sixth summer signing after he secured the services of Peter Hartley, Lee Cox, Carl McHugh, Reuben Reid and Deane Smalley for 2014/15.
