Plymouth look set to miss out on the signing of Slovakian midfielder Maros Klimpl, who has set his heart on a move to Aberdeen.

The 28-year-old was at Motherwell on loan last term under Mark McGhee, who is now manager of the Dons, and he admits he now wants to go to Pittodrie.

The experienced star remains under contract at Danish side FC Midtjylland but only for a few more weeks and even though Paul Sturrock wants to sign him, Klimpl fancies a return to Scotland.

"I really enjoyed working with Mark at Motherwell," he told the Daily Record. "He is an excellent coach and, from the training to playing for him, it was a brilliant experience.

"My first choice would be to stay in Scotland as I love the country. But I have to wait and see what happens. It's difficult for me to say anything because I haven't had a really serious offer."
