Plymouth boss John Sheridan spoke of his disappointment that his struggling side did not pick up a much-needed three points against Accrington.

The goalless draw saw just Plymouth's second clean sheet in 24 matches but they could have won it had Stanley keeper Cameron Belford not used his trailing leg to keep out Reuben Reid's goal-bound effort in the second half.

The new Plymouth boss said: "At the end of the day we have kept a clean sheet and picked up a point.

"I am disappointed that we have not won because we would have gone above them in the table but it was a stop-start kind of game.

"It was a frustrating first half because there was no urgency about us, and yet there has been in training. They (Accrington) have dictated the game and I was disappointed with the way we played. They will be happier with a point than us because it keeps the same distance between us.

"It feels a bit like a loss because we could have won, we had the better second half chances, but it's gone now. We go again and it makes next Saturday's game here against Dagenham & Redbridge a must-win game for us."

Sheridan also praised the impact made by second-half substitute Luke Young.

"When Luke Young came on for us in the second half he changed the game," he said. "I thought he was the best player on the pitch and made things happen, he upped the tempo.

"But we looked a lot brighter in the second half, we had a go and like I said Luke lifted us and made some good passes to get us going."
