Paul Wotton has been hailed by Plymouth boss John Sheridan after a landmark appearance at Fratton Park.

The experienced defender is now level with Sammy Black in second place on the Pilgrims' all-time appearance list with 491 after a five-minute cameo at the end of their 3-3 draw with Portsmouth on Saturday.

"It's a great achievement," Sheridan told the club's official website.

"I was always going to put him on. I think it's it only right if it helps him to get that record.

"You can see the fans are really fond of him and to play that many games at one club is testament to him.

"Like I say, it is a great achievement."
