Boss Martin Foyle admits he is concerned about Port Vale's form as they slipped further down League One with a 3-2 defeat at Carlisle.

The worrying aspect of the defeat at Brunton Park was the fact Vale led 2-0 thanks to goals from Paul Harsley and Jeff Smith, before they allowed the Cumbrians to hit back in the second half with three goals in 15 minutes.

The result leaves the early season pacesetters down in 17th position on 23 points - just six clear of the bottom four relegation places.

Foyle told the Sentinel: "I feel let down. Carlisle were the better side, but with a 2-0 lead it's important to defend it.

"We lack consistency - one minute good and one minute poor - and there were a lot of poor things out there.

"The effort is there but maybe we need a bit of extra quality. The players have got to learn and learn very quickly.

"Of course there's pressure and I won't hide from the fact that I'm a worried man."
