Robertson boost for Vale

Last Updated: Tue, 31 Dec 2013 12:47

Chris Robertson comes back into the reckoning for Port Vale as they prepare to face fellow promotion hopefuls Preston.

Robertson missed the 2-0 home win over Rotherham on Sunday as he served a one-match suspension but the Scot will return to contention on New Year's Day to boost manager Micky Adams' defensive options.

Vale have one or two players nursing minor knocks following the festive fixtures but nothing that is expected to change Adams' squad ahead of the trip to Deepdale.

Chris Shuker, Ben Williamson, Ryan Lloyd, Chris Birchall, Lee Hughes and Jordan Hugill, along with Robertson, are among those players vying for recalls.
