Danny Sonner believes Vale are good enough to claim a play-off spot this season and feels the festive period could be crucial.

Martin Foyle's men are up to ninth after winning their last three matches and confidence has been boosted in the squad.

Vale face the top three sides in League One, Nottingham Forest, Bristol City and Scunthorpe, over the holiday period and Sonner feels they are up to the challenge.

Sonner told the Sentinel: "That (the top six) has to be the aim for us. We are getting people fit now and have a stronger squad.

"We just had young lads on the bench before, but now we have a bigger squad and if everyone stays fit we have half a chance."
