Port Vale are holding fire on contract talks until they know which division they will be playing in next season.
A handful of players will be out of contract in the summer, including captain Doug Loft.
Goalkeeper Sam Johnson, midfielders Ryan Burge and Sam Morsy and striker Ben Williamson are among the other players whose deals are set to run out.
Assistant manager Mark Grew insists planning ahead for next season will hinge on whether Vale, who are currently top of npower League Two, can win promotion.
"If you get promoted it's a different ball game with different finances," Grew told the Sentinel.
"Nobody has spoken about contracts, we're just going to wait to see what happens.
"The lads are enjoying where they at the moment. Their minds are set to help Port Vale get promoted and we'll worry about contracts when the time comes."
