Martin Foyle has admitted he was ?gutted' to miss out on defensive target Marcos Painter, who this week chose to join Swansea.

The Birmingham defender had a choice between the two clubs and decided to move to the Liberty Stadium and will now face Vale in the league this weekend.

The decision has come as a major blow to Foyle, who is still desperately looking to bolster his squad especially at the back.

Foyle told the Sentinel: "I don't hold any grudges, but I am absolutely gutted. Swansea weren't in for him originally , but their defender Tom Williams had his hernia done over the weekend.

"It's just another blow. We have George Pilkington on four bookings and Colin Miles and Richard Walker on three and it is a case of trying to get someone else in as we have 10 games now up to Christmas."
