Wolves are rumoured to be running the rule over Port Vale's in-form striker Leon Constantine.
The striker has netted 18 times for the Valiants this season already, and is now beginning to attract the interest of a number of clubs in the Championship, with Mick McCarthy apparently attempting to jump to the head of the queue for his signature with a firm offer for his services.
Rumours are circulating, now that the transfer window is open, that Wolves have offered £250,000 for the hitman and Vale chairman Bill Bratt has stated that this sum is the very minimum that the club would consider for the striker they do not want to lose.
Bratt told the Sentinel: "I am not saying that (£250,000) is the asking price, but it is the very minimum.
"We would look and see what comes in, but we would want the most we can.
"But we want him to stay with us. You can't fail to be impressed with what Leon has done this season.
"He has scored more goals before Christmas than anyone has here and he is on target for 30 or more this season."
