Spurs boss Harry Redknapp is set to make a move for David James in January following Carlo Cudicini's serious motorbike accident.

The Portsmouth keeper has been linked with a move to White Hart Lane in the past but fresh reports suggest Redknapp will step up his bid to land the England man in the new year after Cudicini's accident.

Redknapp's current number one is Heurelho Gomes but without Cudicini the Spurs boss only has youngsters David Button and Ben Alnwick to call upon if Gomes is forces to miss out, so a move for James remains a distinct possibility.

James has insisted he remains committed to Pompey but with all the ongoing uncertainty at Fratton Park, a switch to Spurs would not come as a major surprise.
