Midfielder ready to make comeback

PortsmouthMidfielder Jerome Thomas is ready to hand boss Harry Redknapp an injury boost by making his return against Aston Villa on October 18.

Thomas is hoping to figure in Redknapp's plans for the clash in eleven days' time after making a successful comeback from a stress fracture of his spine in Portsmouth reserves' 3-2 win over Tottenham on Monday night.

The midfielder, who completed a permanent move to Fratton Park from Charlton at the start of the season, has been out of action since September and it was initially feared he could sidelined for three months but the injury has responded well to treatment in recent weeks.
