No doubting for Thomas

PortsmouthPortsmouth new boy Jerome Thomas is confident he will impress during his season-long loan spell from Charlton and win a permanent deal.

The former Arsenal youngster has linked up with Pompey until the end of the campaign and could earn a longer term contract if he proves boss Harry Redknapp was right to snap him up.

Thomas said: "If you look over the years at the type of player Harry has (successfully) brought in, I think I'm that type, too.

"I think I can bring some intensity and some flair. And I want to make Harry look like a smart man again for bringing me to the club."

Thomas is set to be deployed down the left wing which will free Niko Kranjcar to play a more central role after the summer departures of Pedro Mendes and Sulley Muntari to Rangers and Inter Milan respectively.
