Pompey ace happy with Harry

PortsmouthMidfielder Papa Bouba Diop says he is happy at Portsmouth and is confident they will continue to make progress under Harry Redknapp.

The 30-year-old Senegal international feels his own game has developed following a first season at Fratton Park, after a move to the south coast from Fulham last summer. Despite the disappointment of being left out of Redknapp's starting XI from the FA Cup final win against Cardiff, he holds his boss in high regard and feels the club will only get better following the cup success and eighth-placed league finish.

Diop told The News: "Harry is a top manager and a good person.

"He is a leader who can get the best out of his players just by motivating them.

"He gets on well with every player and has a great passion for the game."

He added: "After being the FA Cup winners and having a great season last year, we are expecting a super season this time.

"The team is stronger and we've had new players coming in.

"One of those new faces is Peter Crouch. Crouch is a great player and I believe he is going to bring more energy to the team.

"With him up front I think we will score many goals this season.

"I believe our team is now strong in all areas, and we have a great team spirit."
