Pompey eye double deal

PortsmouthPortsmouth are tipped to land defenders Younes Kaboul and Nicky Shorey from Spurs and Reading respectively this week.

The Pompey chief is hoping to bolster his defence and long-term target Kaboul is almost certain to link up with the south-coast club despite rival interest from Aston Villa and Sunderland.

Left-back Shorey has been looking to leave the Royals for some time and knows he must stay in the Premier League to stand any chance of adding to his England caps.

Boss Harry Redknapp has previously spoken of his need to sign cover for Herman Hreidarsson who turned 34 earlier in the close season.

Both players could cost in the region of £5m each which would account for the cash raised from Sulley Muntari's sale to Inter Milan.
