Portsmouth have been drawn to face Portuguese outfit Vitoria Guimaraes in the first round of the UEFA Cup following Friday's draw.
It is Pompey's first foray into European football and Harry Redknapp's men will have to get past the fifth biggest club in Portugal, who secured a third place finish in the top flight last season.
Vitoria did qualify for the Champions League qualification stage but had to settle for a place in the Uefa Cup when they were knocked out by Basle 2-1 on aggregate.
The first leg of the first round tie at Fratton Park will be played on Thursday September 18.
