Redknapp raises the stakes

PortsmouthPortsmouth manager Harry Redknapp has warned he will show no mercy when it comes to team selection next season.

Redknapp was disappointed with the performance of certain individuals in the 2-1 pre-season defeat to Manchester United and has told his senior stars he expects a lot more from them.

Redknapp did reserve special praise for new-boy Glen Little, who came on for the injured John Utaka, but felt others did not put in the required effort.

He told The News: "There were one or two good performances and some disappointing ones, too.

"Some of them are going to have to do a lot better to get in the team.

"They have to show me a lot more.

"I was pleased with Glen Little.

"I thought he did a good job when he came on.

"He put in some good crosses, which is what I need him to do for me this season. But others have to do a lot more."
