Blackburn striker Benni McCarthy has hinted that he could be tempted to join Portsmouth in the January transfer window.
The South African striker looks set to leave Ewood Park in the near future having failed to impress Rovers manager Sam Allardyce since he took over at the club.
Despite coming off the bench and playing a big part in Blackburn's victory over Portsmouth McCarthy has admitted he is on the look out for a new club and has heaped praise on Pompey, claiming they are still a 'top side' despite currently being bottom of the league.
"In my opinion I am better than what we have at Rovers, but unfortunately the manager prefers a different style of player," said the former Porto forward.
"I am not the type of player he wants and that is why I am not playing.
"Portsmouth are going through a bad patch but are still a top side.
"I have discussed them with Aaron Mokoena and at this stage it is still a rumour.
"here are other clubs in England and Europe that have shown interest in me."
Despite being talked up by fellow countrymen and current Portsmouth defender Aaron Mokoena Paul Hart has already played down speculation that he is interested in making a move for McCarthy.
